Rosacea Awareness Month!

What is Rosacea?
Rosacea is a common but often misunderstood chronic skin condition that primarily affects the face. It typically begins with episodes of facial flushing or blushing, but over time, symptoms can progress and become more persistent.
The hallmark signs of rosacea include:
- Visible redness and persistent flushing, especially across the cheeks, nose, forehead, and chin
- Dilated blood vessels (telangiectasia) that may become more prominent over time
- Red, acne-like bumps or pustules, which can be mistaken for breakouts
- Thickened skin in advanced cases (often around the nose, known as rhinophyma)
- Eye irritation in some individuals, known as ocular rosacea
While the exact cause is still unknown, rosacea is believed to be linked to a combination of genetics, an overactive immune response, and environmental triggers such as sun exposure, stress, spicy foods, alcohol, and temperature changes.
How Can We Treat Rosacea?
At CoCo Dermatology and Cosmetics, we understand that rosacea is more than just a cosmetic concern—it can impact self-confidence and quality of life. That’s why we offer a multi-faceted approach to treatment that targets both the symptoms and root causes of rosacea.
Take a closer look at some of treatments we offer:
✨ Fotona Laser for Redness
Our state-of-the-art Fotona laser uses advanced light technology to reduce visible blood vessels and diffuse redness without damaging surrounding skin. This non-invasive treatment gently improves tone and texture, making it ideal for long-term redness management.
✨ Medical-Grade Chemical Peels (Jessner’s or TCA)
Chemical peels such as Jessner’s or TCA (trichloroacetic acid) work by exfoliating the skin and promoting new cell turnover. They help reduce inflammation, unclog pores, and even out skin tone—ideal for rosacea patients with acne-like breakouts or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
✨ Hyperdilute Botox
One of our most innovative approaches, Hyperdilute Botox, is a unique formulation developed by Dr. Mayha Patel herself. When strategically injected, it helps calm the overactive facial muscles and sebaceous (oil) glands, minimizing facial redness and flushing over time. It’s subtle but powerful—offering results you can feel as well as see.
✨ Renewal Brightening Complex Cream
Formulated with scientifically backed ingredients, Dr. Patel’s Renewal Brightening Complex is designed to soothe sensitive skin, reduce redness, and strengthen the skin barrier. It’s perfect for daily use and pairs beautifully with in-office treatments.
✨ Oral and Topical Medications
Depending on the severity and subtype of rosacea, we may also prescribe:
- Topical agents like metronidazole, azelaic acid, or ivermectin to reduce inflammation and bumps
- Oral medications such as low-dose doxycycline to help control more moderate or stubborn cases
